Brooklyn Botanic Garden is calling all cameras for its seasonal photo contest, Me @ BBG! — and asking visitors to focus on themselves.
BBG seeks to document the amazing and diverse community of people who enjoy visiting the garden, 1000 Washington Avenue. Through September 5, visitors can pose friends and family against BBG’s beautiful backdrop of photogenic flora, fauna, and architecture, or hold the camera at arm’s length to capture their own expressions. Either way, the garden wants to see who its visitors are and what they love about BBG.
Is it a smiling face against the vibrant sorbet shades of sacred lotus and waterlilies on Lily Pool Terrace? A child among the unusual shapes and textures of the Monocot Border? Whatever the botanical pleasure may be, BBG wants to see guests enjoying it. To enter, just add photos to the garden’s Me @ BBG! Flickr group by logging in to your Flickr account, joining the group, and then adding your photo.
Each week the garden’s web staff will select a Photo of the Week to highlight, and the photographer will win a $20 gift certificate at the garden shops. Keep up with those weekly winners by visiting www.bbg.org/vis2/me-at-bbg. All photos, whichmeet the guidelines, are showcased in a slideshow on the BBG website.
The Rules
Photos must be taken at BBG. The subjects must be you and your friends who consent to have their image shared online (don’t shoot people you don’t know — though feel free to make new friends).
Images must include people, but entries are not limited in format — formal, silly or artistic; close-up or wide-angle; shot on a cellphone or a fancy SLR — it’s all fair game. Please be sure to follow BBG visitor rules, and don’t pose in any ways that may harm plants.
