Bibliophiles rejoice this month

Barnes & Noble Court invites the public to participate in its full calendar of events throughout June.

This year, additionally, Barnes & Noble has joined forces with Andrew Clements, author of “Frindle” and other bestselling books, for their 12th annual Summer Reading Program.

Kids entering grades one through six can earn a free book when they read eight books and fill out a journal sheet. Ask any bookseller for details. Teacher kits are available.

June Calendar of Events

Ideas Writing Group, hosted by John Angerami, June 21 at 5 p.m. Calling all writers. Join the “Ideas Writing Group,” a talented team of writers hosted by John Angerami, as they explore into the realm of the written word.

Book Fair + Performance by Brooklyn Prep, June 12 at 6 p.m. Join in celebration of Brooklyn Prep with a special event featuring students in a school performance. The students will be reading from their original works as parents support the school.

Author Discussion and Signing with Julie Salamon, June 2 at 7:30 p.m. Welcome author Julie Salamon reading from her new book, “Hospital: Man, Woman, Birth, Death, Infinity, Plus Red Tape, Bad Behavior, Money, God and Diversity on Steroids.”

Author Discussion and Signing by Lawrence Weinstein, June 6 at 7 p.m. Welcome author Lawrence Weinstein as he discusses his book, “Grammar for the Soul: Using Language for Personal Change.” Weinstein will be joined by The Ideas Writing Group as they journey into the realm of the written word.

Author Discussion and Signing with Tim McLoughlin, June 10 at 7 p.m. Welcome author Tim McLoughlin as he reads from his newest book, “Brooklyn Noir 3.”

Author Discussion and Signing with Fran Hawthorne, June 18 at 7 p.m. Author Fran Hawthorne will read from her financial eye opening book, “Pension Dumping: The Reasons, the Wreckage, the Stakes for Wall Street.”

Author Discussion and Signing with Ed Park, June 26 at 7 p.m. Author Ed Park reads from his hilarious book “Personal Days.”

Author Discussion and Signing with Wilford Welch, June 27 at 7 p.m. Author Wilford Welch will read from “Tactics of Hope: Your Guide to Becoming a Global Science Entrepreneur,” his latest effort.

Junior Events

Dangerous Books for Boys: Nature and Exploring, June 7 at 11 a.m. Boys, learn about creatures big and small in fun, fact-filled activities, which include learning to identify insects and creating their own dinosaurs.

Dr. Seuss Saturday Story Time, June 14 at 11 a.m. On the second Saturday of every month, a special Dr. Seuss story time will be filled with coloring and fun activities in celebration of Dr. Seuss.

Corduroy Bear Story Time, June 21 at 11 a.m. Enjoy story time with Corduroy Bear and read about his amazing adventures. There will be coloring and fun activities.

Summer Story Time Celebration, June 28 at 11 a.m. There will be fun and educational activities for kids of all ages, including reading from various books highlighting summer adventure.
