BK wins big at Mayor’s Cup

New York Junior Tennis League hosted its 22nd Annual Mayor’s Cup All−Scholastic Tennis Tournament Awards Ceremony at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, culminating nine days of tennis competition for more than 600 student−athletes from NYC’s public, private and parochial schools competing in 11 different events.

Among the winners was Brooklyn’s own Boys’ Varsity finalist and winner Gary Kushnirovich of James Madison High School, Bedford Avenue between Avenue P & Quentin Road.

The Mayor’s Cup is the largest scholastic tennis events in the nation, second only to the US Open in the number of players competing at the facility, and recognizes champions from the following categories: Champions from the Individual and Team Divisions; 14 scholarship award recipients; and fifth & sixth grade champions from NYJTL’s Schoolyard Tennis Program.
