Police are on the hunt for a gun-toting thug who shot a Brooklyn Heights resident twice in the back on Sunday, injuring him.
Cops say that the gunman ambushed his 28-year-old victim at around 7 pm in front of the Cadman Towers apartment building near the corner of Clark Street and Monroe Place.
“He was bleeding everywhere — we were comforting him,” said one tenant who witnessed the aftermath of the gruesome shooting. “People had already called an ambulance. He looked really bad, but he’s supposed to be getting surgery today.”
The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to a Manhattan hospital, where he is in stable condition, police said.
No arrests have been made. Witnesses described the gunman as heavyset and in his mid-20s, wearing jeans and a dark-colored T-shirt.
On Monday, Cadman Towers managers on the scene wouldn’t comment, but residents said the shooting comes as a shock to the quiet strip joining Cadman Plaza to the Heights.
“This never happens around here,” a witness said. “Never.”
In fact, there has not been a shooting in the Brooklyn Heights portion of the 84th Precinct all year.
