The skirl of bagpipes unfurled the pomp as New York’s Bravest celebrated their agency with an FDNY night at KeySpan Park.
The Emerald Society Pipes & Drum Band led a processional of firefighters to the Coney Island stadium, 1904 Surf Avenue, pausing at the KeySpan Wall of Remembrance and Tribute Walk to pay tribute to 9/11’s uniformed and other first-responding fatalities immortalized there, as part of a special events night before the Brooklyn Cyclones squared off against the Staten Island Yankees.
The evening featured a Fire Department showcase, preceded by a fireworks show and featuring safety demonstrations, an on-field romp for children of firefighters, plus a fireboat water display.
Chief of Operations {at McNally tossed the ceremonial first pitch and Firefighter Regina Wilson of Engine 219 sang the national Anthem.
Firefighters enjoyed a post-game party at Peggy O’Neills, located in front of the stadium.
