Buckley’s−Kennedy’s 5K!

The 29th Annual Buckley’s−Kennedy’s 5K Charity Run is set for May 17, at 10 a.m. The run, in memory of Tom Killen and Theresa “Dee Dee” Muir, will begin and end in Riis Park, on the Queens side of the Marine Parkway Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge.

All proceeds benefit HeartShare Human Services of New York and its efforts to provide needed services to children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities, as well as for other at−risk children adults and families.

Following the run is the Family Fun Day Picnic with food, drinks, games, awards, pee−wee races, and live entertainment. A live musical performance and DJ Nikko will keep you moving all afternoon.

Free for all runners and open to the public for a small fee ($10 for food and drink, $15 with a t−shirt, children 12 and under are free), this fun begins at 11 a.m. and is not to be missed.

The registration fee for adult runners 19 and older is $20, and for youth runners 18 and under is $10. This fee is waived for any adult runner with sponsorships of $50 or more or any youth runner with $25 or more.

Additionally, the youth with the most sponsorship donations will receive an Xbox 360 and the runner−up will receive an iPod.

This event is a great way to start off the summer, see old friends, and make new ones. You can register online for the Run or Family Fun Day Picnic at www.heartshare.org.
