Cops are looking to identify the man they say snatched a pair of chains from a woman’s neck at the Myrtle Avenue and Central Avenue M station late last month.
Authorities say a 27-year-old woman was waiting at the station at around 12:40 a.m. on Friday, July 26, when she was approached from behind by an unknown perp. The suspect allegedly ripped two chains from the woman’s neck before the train doors closed. He then fled on foot in an unknown direction.
The woman was not injured.
Police on Monday morning released a surveillance photo of the suspect, described solely as a man with a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and white sneakers, and carrying a book bag.
Robberies are up a whopping 250% year-over-year in Bushwick’s 83rd Precinct, where the July 26 incident occurred, according to Police Department data. So far this year, there were seven reported robberies as of Aug. 4, when the most recent data is available — up from just two during the same period in 2023.
