Clean and Green event

The Gowanus Canal Conservancy is looking for volunteers to participate in their next monthly Clean & Green event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., October 17 at Degraw Street off Bond Street, west of the Gowanus Canal.

Volunteer tasks will include fall bulb and wildflower planting, picking up trash, and weeding beds. A mixture of 1,500 daffodil, tulip and crocus bulbs have been donated for this project with the hopes ofcovering a fair amount of ground. Volunteers will also be helping Conservancy members install specially hand-crafted bird and bat houses in select locations.

All volunteer efforts will help the NYC Parks Department’s GreenStreets program and help street ends thrive, while improving both the health and beauty of the Gowanus Canal.

Volunteers under21 years of age must have a parent or guardian give permission at the site and be available to supervise.
