Community Health Fair is here

SUNY Downstate Medical Center’s University Hospital of Brooklyn is extending an invitation to all residents of Brooklyn to attend its annual Community Health Fair, May 16 (rain or shine), from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., in front of the hospital’s 445 Lenox Road entrance, between East 35th and East 37th streets.

In addition to enjoying refreshments and entertainment, community residents will receive valuable health information and free screenings for asthma, high blood pressure, stroke, glaucoma, foot problems, sleep disorders, diabetes, cholesterol, prostate, and more.

Health professionals will be on hand to conduct clinical breast exams and Pap tests, as well as tests for pregnancy and HIV. Since safety is as important as good health, free child identity kits will also be available.

Held during National Hospital Week, the fair highlights the contributions of health professionals who play such an important role in safeguarding the well−being of the community. This annual “open house” allows the public to see first hand the important work that University Hospital of Brooklyn performs.

SUNY Downstate is the only academic medical center serving Brooklyn’s more than two million residents.
