As cops apprehend the Tootsie look-alike responsible for robbing two Park Slope banks last month, a new note-passing bandit has surfaced in the area.
And this guy’s no lady.
Police said that the bearded, all-business thief is being sought for knocking over the Capital One Bank at 50 Court Street back on August 5.
Tellers told police that the suspect, who is described as a 5’11”, 195-pound white male in his fifties with brown hair, made no attempt to disguise his face as he handed them a threatening note and made off with an undetermined amount of cash.
The thief obviously has less panache than New Jersey resident Samuel Manoharan, who was busted last week for a series of bank robberies he committed while wearing a ladies’ wig and dark sunglasses.
Police said that the 31-year-old is believed to be responsible for at least five bank robberies in Park Slope, Bay Ridge and Manhattan.
All the while, he looked more like Dustin Hoffman in “Tootsie” rather than Jason Statham in “The Bank Job.”
Police allege that Manoharan robbed a teller at the Capital One bank at 516 Fifth Avenue on July 14 as well as the New York Commercial Bank at 478 Fifth Avenue on July 21.
Workers told police that the dude who, as the song goes, “looks like a lady,” allegedly walked up to the teller and passed a note demanding, “Big bills.”
“Don’t mess with me,” he’d tell tellers.
A few moments later, he was seen sashaying out of the bank with an undetermined amount of money.
Police said that Manoharan’s undoing wasn’t the wig, but his profile – especially his long nose, which his costume couldn’t cover up.
It also didn’t help that after he robbed a Bay Ridge bank back in July, someone took note of his getaway vehicle and noted its New Jersey plates.
Cops had reportedly identified Manoharan from his driver’s license when he reportedly robbed a bank in Dyker Heights on August 5.
When he returned to his home in New Jersey, cops were waiting for him and charged him with robbery, officials said.
