Cyclones 5
Yankeees 2
July 28 at Staten Island
The last-place Cyclones needed a win to avoid slinking into oblivion — and got one, thanks to stunning starting pitching by Scott Shaw and three home runs.
Shaw was masterful in his five innings, yielding just one hit — a solo home run in the third. He struck out seven Yankees.
Measnwhile, the Cyclones bats came alive. John Satin, mustache-less John Servidio and Sean Ratliff all homered, and Matt Smith and Eric Campbell added clutch, two out RBI singles.
The win cut the Yankee lead over the Cyclones to five games and raised the struggling Brooklyns’ record to 19-21.
