To The Editor:
I want to thank Tom Tracy for the insightful article in your August 21 issue, describing how just two Manhattan Beach residents have gotten a $150,000 pledge from Councilman Mike Nelson to spend unnecessarily.
The plan to move the dog run to a new location is a ridiculous waste of money. Will someone please tell the complainants that the loud radio playing and illegally parked cars late at night are a police matter, and have nothing to do with the dog run location.
The money needs to be spent more wisely on basic repairs and updating. Has anyone taken a look at the deterioration of the entire Manhattan Beach Park?
City planners and park officials should decide on what is best for all the people who use the park, including the dog owners. Please note the park’s hours of operation are Monday thru Friday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekends and holidays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Let’s remember that the parks are for everyone.
