The Mount Sinai Hospital and Lutheran Medical Center have agreed to enter into a clinical affiliation to offer premier cardiac care in Brooklyn. Mount Sinai and Lutheran have applied to New York State for permission to jointly operate the May Ellen and Gerald Ritter Diagnostic Cardiology Center on Lutheran’s campus.
Under this new initiative, The Mount Sinai Hospital’s-Mount Sinai Heart (MSH) will help provide extended cardiac care, equipment, training, clinical support, on-call physician access and administrative services to the catheterization lab at Lutheran. This new partnership is designed to provide residents of the community with easier, more rapid access to needed cardiac specialty medical and surgical services.

As area cardiac deaths and hospitalizations remain at alarming levels, Lutheran’s catheterization lab received broad support among community based organizations and New York’s elected officials. The construction of the cardiac suite was made possible by the generous financial contributions of the May Ellen and Gerald Ritter Foundation, a private charitable foundation established to provide funding for public charities in the Greater New York area.
