First Thursday in DUMBO

April 7, 6 pm8 pm.


Join artists, galleries, and community members for this monthly event celebrating art, culture, and historic DUMBO. Participating galleries will be free and open to the public from 6 pm to 8 pm, giving all visitors the opportunity to peruse the diverse selection of artwork in DUMBO’s famous arts district. Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in an insider’s tour at 6 pm led by Alexandra Harper, the Founder of Women of Culture, a community for women who want to live more art-full, creative, and culture-filled lives.

Highlights of this upcoming First Thursday include:

  • Insider’s Tour led by Alexandra Harper that will take visitors through Smack Mellon first to see Victoria-Idongesit Udonian’s How Can I Be Nobody, as well as Streaming Surface from Moko Fukuyama and curator Rachel Vera Steinberg. This will be followed by a tour of Nate Flagg’s Cwacacaminshin / Songs at Elma. The tour will finish off with a visit to Undercurrent to see Megan Stroech’s Fully Furnished.   • Light Year digital projections from 7:30 PM – 10:00 PM on the Manhattan Bridge 
  • Reception for Objects for Artists at New York Studio School and Sculpture Gallery. Exhibiting artists will be present to discuss their work.
  • Artist’s Reception at Klompching Gallery with Brooklyn-based artist, Dora Somosi. Somosi will be in attendance to meet collectors and talk about her artworks.
