PS20, “The Clinton Hill School” will be holding our first annual
“$5K for PS20
social justice run in Brooklyn’s Fort Greene Park on June 11th
. The mini-marathon styled event is a fundraiser with All proceeds benefiting the PTA supported
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work.
In the wake of the murder of George Floyd, the P.S.20 PTA renewed its commitment to addressing all forms of social injustice by creating a fund within the PTA budget dedicated to “diversity, equity and inclusion work, (DEI)”. These funds are a valuable resource that allows the PTA to support the DOE’s efforts to raise awareness about structural racism and unconscious biases, while gearing toward respect and justice for all, at P.S.20.
Given the complex challenges inherent to a growing school in a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood, PS 20 is committed to broadening our capacity, to be a diverse and inclusive school that embraces the pride and legacy of an institution that has educated countless Black and Brown children in our community over many years. While the pandemic hindered our ability to come together as a community to address these issues, it also provided a deeper look into the glaring reality of systemic inequality and inequity that pervades virtually every part of our society, including our education system.
Some of the NYC political candidates (Mayoral, City Council and Brooklyn Borough President) have confirmed attendance.
