Virtual Writing Workshop- Write the Italian in your memories
As Italians and Italian-Americans, when we look back on our pasts – whether a year ago or decades ago – our stories are often intertwined and/or steeped in our culture with all of its richness, expectations, joys, hardships and humor. During these three workshops led by author and instructor Maria Giura, we will focus on how three aspects of our culture – food, music, and language – form the background (or foreground) of our memories.
We will read short, vibrant excerpts written by Italian American authors and explore how they tell their stories. Participants will then use these models and writing prompts for inspiration to generate their own writing. By the end of the three workshops, participants will have produced three pieces of writing. These workshops are for those interested in writing for themselves and/or their families, and also for those who want to attract a larger reading audience.
Register for one, two, or all three 90-minute workshops. Pour your coffee and join Maria on Saturday mornings from 10 to 11:30 am. The fee for each workshop is $27 ($81 for all three), or $30 for non-members ($90 for all three.) There is a member discount for family members.
