Foreign language kids make English job one; earn salute for summer of hard work

How do you say “well done”?

No matter what the language, the words usually come with a celebration like the one given to 27 youngsters who participated in a special “second chance” English language summer class at P.S. 225, 1075 Oceanview Avenue.

City Councilmember Michael Nelson was on hand to congratulate the childrens’ accomplishments as they completed their summer studies.

Each child, whose native languages ranged from Spanish to Middle Eastern to Russian, received a special award for their hard work and the rendering on why they loved Brighton Beach.

The program was funded in part by the Brighton Neighborhood Association, which raised $2,000 to help these children improve their English-language skills.
