Retired teachers received a lesson in how to shake off swindlers during a Smart Seniors forum in downtown Brooklyn, presented by the Office of State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.
Borough consumer fraud representative James Sfiroudis delivered the lowdown to a group of elders at the Retired Teachers Learning Center, 335 Adams Street, on how best to avoid the types of consumer scams that frequently target seniors, among them, mail order, sweepstakes and telemarketing fraud.
The group also learned how to protect credit cards, bank accounts and Social Security numbers from theft.
