Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States. Each year about 700,000 Americans suffer from a new or recurrent stroke.
May is American Stroke Month and in its observance, New York Methodist Hospital will sponsor Stroke Alert Day, May 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the hospital’s Medical Office Pavilion Lobby, 263 Seventh Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
This free health fair will feature free blood pressure screenings as well as stroke risk assessment. There will be free educational information from the American Stroke Association and NYM’s healthcare professionals will be available to answer questions.
