Holocaust exhibit

The Holocaust Memorial Committee will hold its 24th Annual Gathering & Exhibit, June 8 at 11 a.m. inside The Bay Academy-IS 98, 1401 Emmons Avenue at the foot of Sheepshead Bay.

In memory of the children who perished during the Holocaust, the event will feature the Edward R. Murrow Mixed Chorus with Director Alan Shapiro, in association with the Brooklyn Philharmonic Partnerships for Music Education Programs along with a candle lighting ceremony by survivors and youth.

Robert Scott Kellner — translator of “My Opposition,” the secret diaries of his grandfather, Fredrich Kellner, a witness to the atrocities of the Nazi regime — will educate young people about the dangers of totalitarianism, neo-Nazism and anti-Semitism.

Essay, poetry and art student awards will be presented. There will also be exhibits and book displays, and community leaders will also be in attendance.

The event is sponsored by Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz, the Holocaust Memorial Committee and the Lena Cymbrowitz Foundation.
