The Caribbean Literary and Cultural Center, at The Brooklyn Public Library’s Flatbush Branch, will feature a jazz and music theme art exhibit by the Haitian-American artist Gina Samson. The exhibit runs through September 30, with an opening reception September 6 from 3-5 p.m.
Samson’s expressive and colorful works will showcase the link between visual art and music — geometric elements reflecting rhythm, juxtaposition of representational and abstract components, and color harmonies that echo and ricochet from one painting to another.
The clear and strong colors of the islands, the warmth of Caribbean community life and culture, the rich flavors or the food and the assertive rhythms of Caribbean music are all embodied in the work, and melded with the intense, fast paced New York urban flavor.
The Caribbean Literary and Cultural Center is at 22 Linden Boulevard. For more, visit www.samsonart.com.
