Kearney on solid footing – Coach gets tremendous output from outstanding squad

Bishop Kearney High School’s soccer team had an exciting season so far this year, as they played their hardest under the direction of coach Charlie Candela, with the support of captain senior Kristina Iudica and co-captain junior Brigid Tennesen.

While freshman Shannon Fahy has scored many goals in wins against St. Edmund, Cathedral, St. Saviour, Bishop Ford, Stella Maris, Christ the King, Notre Dame, St. John’s Prep and St. Agnes, other team members have added to the goal count. These include junior Christina Abbate, sophomores Danielle Farragher, Emily and Katie Mason and senior Kaitlin Tuohy.

Senior goalie Jessica Gargano has made incredible catches to deflect net bound shots. Sophomore Sabrina Gargano leads the bench as team cheerleader, making sure her teammates hear and feel the support of the players on the bench. Senior Antonella Gallo, juniors Jamie Bracci, Megan DiBennedetto, Kaitlyn Durney, Sivhan Fitzgibbon, Cynthia Gambino, Joanna Gavin, Daniela Senulia and sophomores Teresa Iacobuzio, Barbara Hosh, Allison Kozak and Shannon Rom can be counted on to play offense and defense very well.

The team has a number of freshman players who are working hard to become part of the group. They include Janelle Bentley, Rosella Failla, Erin O’Connor, Jessica Parilla, Diana Shcherbenko and Carolina Thurlow.
