iPhone grab
Two thugs grabbed a woman at the corner of Lafayette and Vanderbilt avenues on Sept. 26, swiping her iPhone.
The 29-year-old was nearing the corner at 11:35 pm when the duo grabbed her from behind, covering her mouth so her pleas for help couldn’t be heard.
The thieves then grabbed the pricey smart phone and ran off, leaving her unharmed, police were told.
Gunpoint rob
Three hooligans pulled a gun on a man on Greene Avenue on Sept. 27.
The victim was approaching Clermont Avenue at 9:10 pm when the trio jumped him. One of the men pulled a gun while the other two went through the victim’s pockets, taking $180 and a Blackberry cellphone.
iGone
A thief padded off with an iPad and several other items foolishly left in a broken Long Island University locker on Sept. 28.
The owner of the $600 computer tablet put a bag containing his computer, some cash, clothes and credit cards in the locker at 2 pm just before his workout in the University Plaza gym.
When he returned to the locker room two hours later, his bag was gone, he told police.
Ironically, the college was recently named the third-safest in the country by the Daily Beast, a website.
Train hijack
A thief mugged a 26-year-old straphanger at knifepoint on Sept. 28 during a daring daytime heist inside the Fulton Street station.
The victim entered the station at 12:15 pm and was waiting for a Queens-bound G train when the thief crept up behind her and put a knife to her throat.
The thief then ran off with the woman’s purse, which contained an iPhone and some credit cards, police said.
Cab crook
A cabbie made off with his fare’s camera, laptop computer and credit card on Sept. 30 following a Fulton Street drop off.
The 32-year-old victim told police he tried to pay the fare with his credit card when the cab reached its destination between Vanderbilt and Clinton avenues at 11:30 pm, but the card reader in the back seat didn’t work.
The victim got out of the car and handed his card to the cabbie, hoping the card reader on the dashboard worked, but the driver seized the opportunity and sped off, taking the card, computer and camera with him.
Police said the card was “used at numerous locations” before the victim could report it stolen.
More meat hooks
Two hooligans brutally beat a 38-year-old woman on Adelphi Street after botching an attempt to cover her mouth during the Sept. 29 mugging.
One of the hooligans tried to muzzle the woman with his meaty palm after grabbing her between Greene Avenue and Fulton Street at 12:35 am, but threw her to the ground and began punching her in the head when she wouldn’t hand over her purse, police were told.
Umbrella umbrage
A 39-year-old was arrested on Oct. 1 after he beat another man with an umbrella during a furious exchange on Grand Avenue.
The assailant jumped his 36-year-old victim at 2 pm between Fulton Street and Lefferts Place, leaving the stranger with bruises to his face and head that needed medical attention.
Brown bilk
A careful thief swiped a purse from a diner at Maggie Brown’s on Myrtle Avenue on Sept. 29.
The 33-year-old patron put her purse on a shelf as she dined inside the eatery between Waverly and Washington avenues at 9 pm, but when she went to retrieve her bag two hours later, it was missing.
The thief emptied the bag and pitched it into a restaurant garbage can, cops said, adding that one of the victim’s credit cards was later used to buy a Metrocard.
Not very grand
A thief stole a purse from a woman celebrating at the Fulton Grand Bar on Sept. 30.
The victim strung her bag over the back of her chair in the aptly named nightspot at the corner of Grand Avenue and Fulton Street at 9:30 pm.
She didn’t notice the bag was missing until two hours had passed, after she tried to buy a round of drinks.
