Med student makes house call

LICH: dog’s best friend, and man’s too!

Local resident Marvin Friedman was out walking Tallulah, his labradoodle, when he happened to trip and fall.

The injuries, though not life-threatening, did require treatment, necessitating a visit to the Long Island College Hospital (LICH) Emergency Room.

Not wanting to leave Tallulah alone outside, since dogs are not allowed inside the hospital,Friedman looked to Dr. Tucker Woods, chairman of Emergency Medicine at LICH, for a solution.

“We just don’t like to turn away anybody who needs us,” said Dr. Woods,so medical student Jocelyn Ko was called to the rescue, dog-sitting Tallulah while physician assistant Peter Bosniak treated Friedman’s contusions.

“I won’t say we offer either baby-sitter or dog sitter services as a matter of course, but I will say that LICH goes to great lengths to ensure our community that we’re greatly committed to their health,” said Dr. Woods.

LICH is located at 339 Hicks Street in the Brooklyn Heights section of Brooklyn.
