Youngsters enrolled in the Friends United Block Association Youth Center have a new place in which to surf the Web – a brand new computer laboratory with the compliments of local Assemblymembers Helene Weinstein and Alan Maisel.
The elected officials were on hand for the grand opening of the $50,000 room at the bustling facility, 1045 Remsen Avenue, which they helped finance with state funds.
The money was secured after FUBA head Gardy Brazela approached the assemblymembers about the need for a new computer center to meet the needs of students and adults in the Canarsie and East Flatbush communities.
