The Brooklyn Public Library is going green %u2013 and to mark the occasion officials joined local students and area dignitaries to break ground on the archive’s first eco-friendly building in Kensington.
The new Kenington Library, 4207 18th Avenue, will be the first emerald jewel in BPL’s crown, boasting state-of-the-art ADA-compliancy in addition to self-check machines, external book drops and First Five Year, Teen and Adult spaces.
Executive Director Dionne Mack-Harvin joined Borough President Marty Markowitz and students from Public School 179, 202 Avenue C, who came bearing handmade cards for the dignitaries.
Currently, the library provides service to the community from tis leased facility at 410 Ditmas Avenue.
