Owning a piece of artistic history was never so dreamy.
Hunky star-tist Julian Schnabel’s pajamas are going to be auctioned at the “I Heart Art” fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 21, for the DUMBO Arts Center.
The winner of the signed, paint-splattered striped set from Schnabel, whose preference for wearing PJ’s all the time is exceeded perhaps only be Hugh Hefner, will also receive a print of Annie Leibovitz’s photograph (above). Bidding starts at $2,000.
The painter’s nighttime garb is the featured item in the silent auction with bidding from Feb. 14–21, but there are also donated works from Robert Rauschenberg and Christo, among others. Inspect the threads and the other objects d’art starting Valentine’s Day.
Having trouble appraising the works? No problem, there’s a talk prior to the conclusion of the auction called “Collecting Art on a Budget.”
The “I Heart Art” event will be on Feb. 21 at the DUMBO Arts Center (30 Washington St., between Plymouth and Water streets), 6–8 pm. For info, call (718) 694-0801 or e-mail gallery@dumboartscenter.org.
