Pizza gladiators go to the ‘crust’ of the challenge

Sal Carbone’s dreams aren’t just a pie in the sky.

The gulping gastronome from Bay Ridge, beat his own record – by a bite – and reclaimed his title as ‘defeater of the dough’ after devouring 22−and−a−half slices in 12 minutes during a benefit pizza−eating contest at Rocco’s Pizzeria, 7818 5th Avenue.

The gargantuan feat served up a cool $300 cash prize to the reigning champ, who pitted his gums against such titanic gobblers as William Millander, Joel Podalsy and world champ Dale Boone, for bragging rights and, likely, a touch of indigestion.
