As the frontman for indie rock bands like Luna and Galaxie 500, Dean Wareham has logged countless hours in a van on tour. But now that he’s released his first book, “Black Postcards: A Rock ’n’ Roll Romance,” Wareham is touring in style.
“They’re flying me to Boston,” the author said. “This won’t be anything like being on tour with a band — that’s always a long day. This will be quick and easy.”
On Tuesday, March 18, Wareham, a Manhattanite, will have an even easier commute when he comes to Park Slope’s Union Hall to read from “Black Postcards” and performs an acoustic set of songs by Dean and Britta, Wareham’s band with his wife, Britta Phillips.
For those more familiar with Wareham’s rock shows than his book readings, the author thinks this event will make for an easy introduction.
“I’ve been to a few readings in bookstores and they can be a bit stilted,” he said. “[At Union Hall] people can have a drink, which is nice, and I can play some songs.”
For Wareham’s fans, this free show is music to their ears.
