Russian cultural festival

As part of the monthlong Seventh Annual Russian Heritage Festival, June 1−30, the Russian American Foundation is holding two community events at Asser Levy Seaside Park, Ocean Parkway & Seabreeze Avenue, in the Brighton Beach section of Brooklyn

The “Together In NY Community Festival,” June 7, will demonstrate the tremendous diversity of Russian culture and will provide a celebratory environment during which time visitors will enjoy performances, crafts, artists, ethnic foods, as well as learn about various businesses and organizations interested in servicing the community.

The community festival will be filled with free carnival attractions for children, performances, and mouth−watering foods. Additionally, there will be a free concert by the popular Russian group, Chelsea.

The Annual Community Health & Sports Fair, which provides the Russian−speaking community with access to the many health options available, will be held a week later, June 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Health care providers, as well as fitness, senior services, nutrition and wellness counselors, will be on−hand to educate the public about their well−being. Leading hospitals and health care providers will administer free tests and screenings to all.

Additionally, there will be a special performance by star of the Moscow Theater, “Shalom” Yevgeniy Valevich, who is traveling to the US especially for this event.
