Light touch

Thieves broke into a lighting store on Avenue U on May 18, but they weren’t in the market for bulbs.

Instead, they were stealing the store’s water meter, as well as some copper piping, cops from the 61st Precinct were told.

Workers at the store, which is located between East 22nd and East 23rd streets, said that they closed up shop at 5 pm. When they opened at 10:30 the next morning, they realized that someone had snapped the lock to the outside hatch leading to the basement and took off with the property.
