Unsaintly behavior

A thief broke into the United Methodist Church of Sheepshead Bay on June 19, not realizing that a worker was inside.

The custodian told police he was mopping the floors in the Ocean Avenue house of worship, which is between Voorhies Avenue and Shore Parkway, just before midnight when he heard a crashing sound.

When he looked up, he saw a man in his 20s trying to get into the kitchen window.

The thief gave up his attempt as soon as he realized he was being watched and ran off, said police, who were still looking for the burglar as this paper went to press.
