SJC ‘love’ conference

St. Joseph’s College will host the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph’s (CSSJ) UN-NGO Ministry’s annual Youth Conference, entitled, “Love Thy God and Neighbor Without Distinction” at St. Joseph’s College, 245 Clinton Avenue.

The conference will run July 9-12 and will feature excursions to the United Nations headquarters, Downtown Brooklyn, and a Broadway show. There is a $150 registration fee, and lodging is available at the Vanderbilt YMCA, 224 47th Street in New York City.

In addition, The CSSJ UN-NGO Ministry invites the youth of the Brooklyn-Queens Diocese to a Youth Mass, July 12 at 6 p.m. in the college’s O’Connor Mall (accessible from 239 Vanderbilt Avenue) to celebrate the sacred liturgy. Included will be a special blessing for those attending the 2008 World Youth Day in Australia.

The purpose of the conference is to situate the gift of the CSSJ charism in the context of the global neighborhood and to provide in a very experiential way all opportunity for students of CSSJ-sponsored secondary schools to meet each other, work together, and returns to their schools prepared to share the global CSSJ charism. At the conclusion of this event, participating students will have a greater awareness of the global CSSJ charism and, on a local level, students will collaborate on outreach projects and learn how to share and implement them when they return to their communities.
