Frightful fanfare accompanied its final twirl of the season when the famous Prospect Park Carousel morphed into a rotating ‘haunted house’ for Halloween – before putting its wooden flock to sleep for the winter.
The delightful merry-go-round, artfully crafted in 1912 by Charles Carmel, and only one of 12 remaining Carmel designs, was musically-charged for the spooktastic spin, serenading the intrepid with goose-bump-raising ditties, ranging from the “Monster Mash,” and the theme from “The Addams Family” to the soundtracks from “Vertigo,” “The Exorcist” and “The Munsters.”
