Snip, snip hooray!
Budding Aristotles at Public School 225 celebrated their new, state−of−the−art science laboratory with a ribbon−cutting ceremony and a posthumous awards reception for two local notables.
Students and staff members dedicated the new room to the memory of Sheila Nelson, a community activist and late wife of Councilmember Michael Nelson, and Carmen Ungar, a beloved teacher at the school, 1075 Oceanview Avenue.
Both honorees had battled cancer for several years.
Charles Ungar accepted the posthumous plaque for his wife, remembered as “a dedicated teacher, who was loved by all who met her,” including her co−workers and “the thousands of students whose lives she touched.”
