There was applause enough to go around when two pageant queens shared the spotlight during a homecoming in Fort Greene, presented by the Miss Brooklyn Scholarship Program.

“Miss Brooklyn 2008” Leigh-Taylor Smith was hailed for winning this year’s “Miss New York” title at an honor program, held in the Great Room at South Oxford Space, 138 South Oxford Street.

Due to Smith’s new duties as the Big Apple’s representative, first runner-up Cherelle Gaines was crowned the new “Miss Brooklyn 2008.”
