Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein provided the NYC Parks Department with state funding to hire a playground associate, who would provide enhanced on-site staffing and implement free sports, arts & crafts, educational programs and for neighbor children at Galapo Playground, Bedford Avenue at Avenue V inthe Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn.

Children and parents from the community joined NYC Parks Assistant Commissioner Ed Lewis to celebrate Weinstein’s $6,500 allocation to fund the Playground Associate for Galapo Playground.

During the visit, Assistant Commissioner Ed Lewis of NYC Parks Department thanked Weinstein by presenting her with a plaque, which reads “City of New York Parks & Recreation thanks Helene E. Weinstein, Assembly Member for sponsoring this Summer 2009 Recreation Program.”

“I am happy to be able to bring this needed service to the children and adults within our community,” said Weinstein.
