Dog days of December

A 16-year-old thug was arrested last week after he allegedly went off on a woman and her dog, injuring them both.

The woman told police that she had brought her dog into a Caton Avenue apartment building near East 16th Street just before 10 p.m. on December 19 when Iman Grant and an unidentified accomplice allegedly jumped her.

The suspects reportedly kicked and punched the woman and then kicked her small dog, causing it to yelp in pain, officials said.

Police said that the woman was left with swelling and scratches. It was unclear how badly injured the dog %u2013 who was found listless and whimpering %u2013 was.

Responding officers rounded up Grant a short time later, arresting him on assault, menacing and animal torture charges.

His accomplice was still at large as this paper went to press.

It was unclear what prompted the attack.
