Tawaiian Holmes has a lot to be grateful for, especially to those caped crusaders that ran to help her after a car put an end to her scootering days. Our pal Tawaiian was scooting on her two-wheeler on Dec. 19 on Livonia and Rockaway avenues when a car came out of nowhere and trapped her underneath. As mom E-Zara Paul frantically screamed for help, the Brownsville heroes heard the call and came running to her aid. Keith Anderson, Christopher Bullock, Arthur Lasane, Rusty Greene, Michael Ward and Ronald Kittles combined their superhuman strength and lifted the car off Tawaiian, saving her life. Tawaiian will have to forgo scootering for a while as her two broken legs heal, but thanks to the Brownsville Six, that’s the worse of her injuries.
Now, getting a Standing O is a pretty big deal, but it’s not as big a deal as getting a certificate from fellow Brooklyn booster Borough President Markowitz. And in true pomp and circumstance fashion, the beep handed out certificates to each and every one of the heroes at a ceremony at Borough Hall on Jan. 8.
“The actions of these men are an inspiration. Look what we can achieve when we work together,” he said. “Thanks to their quick thinking (and superhero strength) Tawaiian has the opportunity to reach the zenith of her God-given potential.”
Mr. Brooklyn also added that he hopes, “Tawaiian will grow up to be a future borough president (following in his footsteps) or even better, president.”
Tawaiian has Standing O’s vote.
