Police hunt for man who molested 13-year-old boy in Sunset Park church

Police are searching for a man who molested a 13-year-old boy in a Fifth Avenue church in Sunset Park on Aug. 10.

The man followed the boy into the church at 48th Street around 7:45 pm, then he touched the boy’s “midsection” over his pants twice, police said.

Police described the man as 50–60 years old, 5-foot-8, and about 140 pounds, adding that he was last seen wearing a dark blue shirt, black shoes, and glasses.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577–8477 or in Spanish at (888) 577–4782. The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577. All tips are confidential.
