The canal countdown continues!

The Environmental Protection Agency has already extended the public comment period about its proposal to designate the Gowanus Canal as a federal Superfund site, citing the amount of responses the agency has already received.

The comment period will now through July 8.

“It’s not uncommon [to extend the period], especially with the volume of comments we expect to see for a site like this,” said EPA Spokesman John Senn.
