Spikes 2

Cyclones 4

Friday, July 9 at MCU Park

Don’t let the final score fool you: this game was all Cyclones.

Starting pitcher Yohan Almonte earned his third win of the season with a nearly flawless 6-2/3 innings, yielding just three hits and striking out five.

The Cyclones got on the board first, scoring a run on a J.B. Brown single after a Joe Bonfe bunt single and an error.

The big inning was the eighth, when the Cyclones scored three times, one on Juan Centeno’s single, another on a wild pitch and a third on Cory Vaughn’s RBI single.

The next Cyclones home game is tonight against the same Spikes. Game time is 6 pm at MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 19th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449-8497]. For info, visit www.brooklyncyclones.com.
