Yankees 5
Cyclones 0

Saturday, July 3 at MCU Park

It was bad enough that the Cyclones got swept in a three-game series against the hated Staten Island Yankees, but the last game of the set was the worst.

Cyclone batters managed just five hits and were struck out 13 times in one of the worst drubbings of the young season.

In a highlight-free game, at least Jeff Flagg went 2-for-4, and relief pitcher Ryan Fraser pitched 1-2/3 innings of shutout ball, striking out three.

The loss dropped the Cyclones into second place behind the hated Bombers.

The reeling Cyclones go on the road now and will return home on Thursday, July 8 against the State College Spikes. Game time is 7 pm at MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 19th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449-8497]. For info, visit

Reasonable discourse

KG del Hungaboes from The North Side says:
You relics from the past who rooted for the Dodgers, and you brand new bunch of dummies rooting for the Mets should stop already with the Yankees. It only shows that the Yanks are in your head, just like with the clowns from Beantown. Worry about YOUR team and of course, the stinking Mets. You know, the ones with the cheapskate owner who wishes the Mets were the Dodgers. Anyway, you'll be much happier if you simply remember that the Yankees and their fans, from the Bronx or Staten Island, are better....make that greater than you or your stinking teams!! Go Yanks - best record in baseball! Once again in 2010.

Clarence from Coney Island says:
I think that what you are saying about us Cyclone and Mets fans is terrible. We love our teams and we are not dummies. You are horrible to say such things. It makes a guy just want to cry. Yes Wilpon is a cheapskate and he does wish the Mets were the Dodgers but besides that we are a great team. Just stop saying nasty things or I'll tell my mommy.
