Cyclones 1

Renegades 4

June 23 at Hudson Valley

The first-place Cyclones were a bit punchless in losing to their upstate rivals, managing just five hits and striking out eight times.

Starting pitcher Carlos Vazquez was effective early, but tired, giving up seven hits in his 4-2/3 innings. The wheels came off the bus in the home fifth, when three runs scored, two of them unearned thanks to third baseman Richard Lucas’s error.

The lone Clone run scored on J. B. Brown’s RBI single in the sixth.

The Cyclones return home vs. the Hudson Valley Renegades at MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 17th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449-8497] on June 25, 6 pm. For info, visit
