A teenager was repeatedly stabbed early Friday morning in Windsor Terrace across the street from Prospect Park, witnesses and cops said.

The 19-year-old man was knifed multiple times in the back and stomach on 15th Street near Bartel Pritchard Square, at the southwest corner of Prospect Park, after a rowdy argument involving 20 youths, according to cops and witnesses.

“There was a lot of screaming and a lot of yelling. These kids were out of control,” said Tom Prendergast, whose son filmed the late-night commotion from Prendergast’s seventh-floor apartment.

The altercation started around 1:30 am with the 20 youngsters shouting and arguing on Prospect Park Southwest, across the street from the Brooklyn’s backyard, according to Prendergast, who says his son’s video captures the moments before the stabbing.

The video appears to show (around the 2:10 mark) this chain of events: two people trip someone; one of the trippers throws something at a fourth person at close range; and that fourth person gives chase, causing the crowd to run in all directions.

Emergency responders rushed the victim, whose name has not been released, to Lutheran Medical Hospital where he was listed in stable condition, police said.

The shanking left a grisly mess for residents to clean up.

“There was blood all over my lobby door and my lobby,” said a Prospect Park Southwest resident who asked not to be named, adding that he saw a handful of teens run into his lobby after the crowd fled the block.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, officials said.

Neighbors have complained for years that Bartel Pritchard Square is a hot spot for young people who drink, brawl, and deal drugs.

Reasonable discourse

jay from nyc says:
I watched the video of this and this "event" lasted for sometime, the police had PLENTY of time to respond and yet never did. It occurred in a well lit area with lots of people around. This kind of behavior is totally unacceptable and the people involved are total idiots and losers. Worse yet, the police are awol and allowing a menace like this to public safety run amok. Sick, just sick.
Aug. 24, 2013, 9:12 am
old time brooklyn from slope says:
how were the police awol? did anyone call? there were not lots of people around - just some traffic. large groups of teens occasionally getting loud and rowdy in the early morning hours is by no means anything new.

That corner has been a hangout forever. used to buy weed there once in a while.

Jay has a hard on for cops - every post slams them.

Welcome to Brooklyn.

johnny boy from da hood says:
Being loud wasn't the problem, it was someone getting stabbed .
Aug. 24, 2013, 2:40 pm
jay from nyc says:
yes old time the fact that you would by weed there is exactly what is wrong with the picture, but you don't seem to get it. If you are buying selling carrying drugs then you need to be in jail. It is NOT acceptable for people to be out on the street selling it, you seem to think it is fine and therefore YOU are part of the problem oldtime.
Yes there were lots of people around, watch the video all kinds of cars and people, but NO police, as you said yourself you bought weed there, its a known drug trafficking area and no cops, and that is a problem.
Aug. 24, 2013, 3:53 pm
johnny boy from da hood says:
There still is traffic there , every tuesday and thursdays while walking my dog i see the same group congregate between the monuments at Bartel and when a 30 something dread locked person shows, they all take off into the park to smoke his wares.
The activity is know by the 78th Pct, but not acted on.
Aug. 24, 2013, 4:20 pm
old time brooklyn from slope says:
jay, shmeckela - I bought weed there in 1975 - 77 on and off. tops you were watching sesame street and at worst caiyou or barney. that has been a hangout for years and if you are that bent out of shape about weed you better get back to where you once belonged.

weed is weed and not drugs - 6th street and ave c back then was drugs

again - did anyone call the cops?
Aug. 24, 2013, 5:08 pm
Jay from nyc says:
old time weed IS drugs. You may think it's not, but you are WRONG be legal. The people who are involved in it support a system that is grounded on murder, terror, torture, kidnapping, extortion, and environmental land degradation. There is NOTHING ok about it.
Furthermore, I am not going any where as this is where I am from. NEWSFLASH just because you are from Brooklyn does not mean you are pro-drug dealers, pro-gangs, pro-drug users, and pro-crime. You seem to be, I am not.
As for anyone calling the cops, at some point someone did, but as to when, that info is not in the article, having said that, the Cops should not need to be called, they should be on station in a known trafficking area.
Aug. 24, 2013, 5:37 pm
johnny boy from da hood says:
We're getting off topic, but ,old timer there were drugs being sold at the Circle at the time you mentioned , do the names Junior Rice, Bobby Powers or Bubba lee refresh your memory .
To get back on track,
I spoke with someone earlier who said ,yes the cops were called, but sadly it was all over when they arrived
Aug. 24, 2013, 5:51 pm
Steve from Ninth Avenue says:
Streets fights have been going on for decades. Two things; did anyone call the cops and is it me or do you hear a few female voices coming from the argument in the street?

Just like someone mentioned Junior Rice and Bobby Powers, I grew up in the neighborhood during the 70's and 80's and we had fights on the streets too.

Speaking of Bobby, he recently wrote an autobiography of his days growing up in the neighborhood. Downright vicious stuff Bobby was involved in.
Aug. 25, 2013, 9:36 am
old time brooklyn from slope says:
plenty of thugs for sure - a bit better now.

'just because you are from Brooklyn does not mean you are pro-drug dealers, pro-gangs, pro-drug users, and pro-crime.:

I am certainly not but I am not some hysterical twinkie who has a permanent boner for cops. This is not a police state - yet. My weed is home delivered now - much more genteel to a hi five hand shake is organically farmed by some hipster a-hole. mazel tov :)

these fights have gone on and still do in Brooklyn from coney island to the heart of the slope (need I mention the 9th street boys).

no doubt the cops were called but this is not star trek where the just be beamed in - is stuff happens in minutes - not like the movies.

Legal Adult from Flatbush says:
19 year old 'boy'?
Aug. 25, 2013, 11:43 am
JAY from NYC says:
ok old time, now your posts make sense, you have stated that your weed is home delivered, that appears to mean you are involved in trafficking and criminal activity? Now we know your biases.
IF I read your statement correctly, you are involved in drug trafficking? If so, then that means you should be in jail.
Second cops can't be beamed in, and as that technology exists only in fiction obviously no one is calling for that. However police need to be posted on station in known trafficking areas, or in the alternative, instal cameras and have them monitored and dispatch officers when things like start up, or use drones, that would also work.
This really is not hard to figure out and do something about.

Jay from Nyc says:
Ooooooh you really told me old time

bkmanhatposeur from brokeland says:
Old Time wants Balkanized Bk back. But still this is the stuff cops should focus on, not on cyclist - violence deterrence.
And if your against this Old Time you are pro-crime which you seem to equate with old school Brooklyn.

John Wasserman from Windsor Terrace says:
That certainly was quite a ruckus. Of course, a few less than half of these troublemakers were in fact female. I would like to know what these youngsters were doing out so late to begin with, as they were clearly not drinking milk shakes. Pardon me, but the last time I checked, this "pot grass" was indeed illegal in Brooklyn. Having said that, would you believe that I had a cousin that lived in California that got it from his doctor? It's true! Unfortunately he died of an "O.D." 2 years ago. Old Time Brooklyn (if that really is your name), would you mind posting your mailing address? I want to send you an anti-drug leaflet, if you don't mind my asking. Thanks for reading.
Aug. 26, 2013, 5 pm
Patricia from Brooklyn says:
So sorry about your cousin passing. Medical marijuana is a godsend.

What did he overdose on that caused his death? At first, I inferred you meant pot, but I figured you must know better than that.
Aug. 26, 2013, 5:27 pm
John Wasserman from Windsor Terrace says:
Hi Patricia,
Thank you for your words of concern. His immediate family believes it was too much marijuana at the same time. We need to get these drugs off of the streets. The real question is "how?".

All of you responding and pointing fingers based on a video posted by the Ol Timer have no clue of whats what. This had nothing to do with a drug transaction. This was a party going on in the same building the video was shot from that got outof control.
Aug. 27, 2013, 10:31 am
johnny boy from da hood says:
the only reference to drugs was from the old timer ,who was referring to the time period that is continually glorified by Denis Hamill's hippy hill days.
I don't see anything that stated there were drugs involved in this tragic event

Aug. 27, 2013, 1:28 pm
Dave from Brooklyn says:
You can clearly see that the boy that was chased was defending himself .. The boy that was chased was walking away and the group followed . If you notice at the end of the video there was a guy with white shorts and black top that ran back to the building with gloves on .. Why did he had gloves? Just right before the group chase the boy .. The same guy with the white shorts runs back towards the building and was the last one to run back to the park .. Then you see him running back from the park and entering the building .. The guy who took this video should hand it over to the police. There is alot going on here that could help the police with this case .
Aug. 28, 2013, 8:36 am
Eric from Brooklyn says:
The young man was just protecting himself from everyone In the crowd.. If you really watch the video you see him and someone else trying to walk away from the problems then they chase him and you hear a young lady calling out for him.. Smh
Aug. 28, 2013, 11:40 am
John Wasserman from Windsor Terrace says:
I'm sorry, but I have to agree with Dave: the fellow in the white shorts and gloves looks to be quite suspicious. Of course, this is just my opinion.
Aug. 28, 2013, 2:26 pm
johnny boy from da hood says:

I'm told the police had a copy of the video the morning it happened and have questioned some of those who where there .
Aug. 28, 2013, 4:32 pm
Dave from Brooklyn says:
The boy they chased as I gathered some information in the neighborhood is in custody and being charge with a crime. Based on the video in my opinion either he defended himself in the park or he is innocent and someone else did this stabbing .. He was truly out numbered and if he had a knife why didnt he pulled it out then and there when they went to attack him ? the girl yelling was a girl who was with the kid who got chased... who got beat up as well... I am thinking that he was trying to protect the girl he was with and disputed with one of the guys after the girl Got hit ...And if you notice that the kid the group chase was walking away and the group kept following him across the street . The group had no intention of letting him walk away ... I've studied the video over and over and over .. Someone needs to get info of the guy who ran back to the building with the white shorts and black gloves on... Anyone with any info should report it to the police pct. the one who shot this video should make a statement to the police ..with this video. anonymously
Aug. 28, 2013, 7:58 pm
Dave from Brooklyn says:
I am sorry but I agree with John ... There Is more to this story that needs to be told... I have a feeling am innocent kid is going down for this.
Aug. 28, 2013, 8 pm
johnny boy from da hood says:
Dave ,
The police were given a copy of the video, one arrest was made and an investigation is ongoing at this point .
I'm being told by people who know, there was a party that had some uninvited guest who tried to crash and you saw what happened .
Aug. 28, 2013, 9:59 pm
Dave from Brooklyn says:
Johnny boy , so word in the streets says that this incident was over a uninvited guest ? Never in my 62 years of living in Brooklyn have I ever heard of anything like that ... I really don't understand it . So how would the guest know that there was a party if they weren't invited ... I just don't get it . Was the kid that got chase was uninvited ?? This whole thing is nuts with kids these days .. Base from the video I think there is more to it... Just fishy ..
Aug. 28, 2013, 11:06 pm
Networking from Park Slope says:
The party was in the building on the 1st floor in the apartment of a squatter and nusance. Sad part of this all is there were parents of these kids in the apartment this wild party was going on. Cops were called numerous times that night because of the ruckus in the building. The uninvited guest showed up because all these teenagers posted the whereabouts of this party on facebook. Absolutely disgusting!
Aug. 29, 2013, 11:45 am
Dave from Brooklyn says:
Wow networking... Unbelievable. So underage drinking and parents are there as well... So these kids as I heard from around the neighborhood are part of gang from around the neighborhood. I would assume that the group weren't to happy with the uninvited guest and decided to start a confrontation with the boy who they chase into the park... I also hear that the young girl who was with the boy got hit a couple of times by a couple of the girls in the crowd and one of the boys hit the girl as well ... Incredible to hear that the police were summoned to the party and they did not stop the party ! I wonder if it was the same building that the video was taken from ... Probably explain why the guy who ran back into the building with the white shorts came out from that building with gloves on ... my gut feeling he went back into the building apt to get a weapon and ran back to the park and ran back from the park with gloves on ... Why have gloves on a Summer night if you was up to not leaving finger prints and up too no good .. Who knows that's just only my opinion... If I was the detective I would find that boy with the gloves and all who was involved in that video.
Aug. 29, 2013, 12:41 pm
John Wasserman from Windsor Terrace says:
I hate to be the one to point this out, but the kid with the gloves and the white shorts should be brought in for questioning. Of course, this is just one man's opinion. Pardon the interruption.
Aug. 29, 2013, 2:38 pm
Dave from Brooklyn says:
I agree John .
Aug. 29, 2013, 4 pm
Ocean Ave from Flatbush says:
It's very obvious...lower right hand corner girl with white totebag and the kid who is he begins to walk in the street as the bus passes you will see white shorts proceed to take a fighting stance and attempts to hit the kid. Apparently he's not really a confident fighter because instead of knuckling up, he decides he will run back to the building get his OJ gloves on and get his knife. So now while the kid is probably getting his butt kicked by the mob who chased him, white shorts runs back to the scene slips in and stabs the kid up pretty good. The bottom line is if you don't want to be framed don't be in the picture. Jesus will be here before you know it, repent before its too late, or you are destined for a fate worse than that young man. My prayers go out to him and I pray that his soul is saved even if his flesh perishes.

Reading all these comments really lets me know people take Internet using to a whole other level. Now to assume all the wrong is tedious. I am the the teens victim sister btw. What's funny is who said teens can't party it's just how you party and the people you party with. Unfortunately my brother got invited to a party where he had one or two mutual friends with him everyone else he had no clue who they were. My brother was defending a girl who got got by her boyfriend if you hear closely u hear my brother yelling to hit a man like that. My advice to my bro would of been to stay out of it and get out of that kaos quickly but my brother has what you call hero syndrome much like me he likes to defend and fight battles when there no his to fight. My brother got stabbed repeadtly by four guys and only one was caught I pray every night they find the others. With a lot of prayers my bro survived even when the doctors said he wouldn't. God is good!
