Keep the change
A young man was arrested after he allegedly used counterfeit money to make three purchases at a Hewes Street bodega on Dec. 19.
The owner of the store between S. Fourth and S. Fifth streets said the 19-year-old came into the store three times with a fake $20 bill. Each time, the suspect purchased a few snacks and left with lots of change, police reported.
The third time he came in, at 9:20 pm, he purchased an Arizona iced tea, some Lays chips, and a Sunkist, cops said. The owner’s son confronted the accused, and the two of them got into a scuffle, a police account says.
The owner’s son ended up with cuts and bruises to his left hand and the teen was arrested and charged with robbery, cops said.
A pair of muggers attacked a woman and tried to steal her pocketbook as she was walking home on S. First Street on Dec. 19, NYPD officials said.
The 28-year-old victim said she was near Berry Street at 8:50 pm when two goons suddenly grabbed her and shoved her to the ground, injuring her right ankle.
The robbers struggled with her and tried to steal her purse but she would not let it go, cops said. The bandits eventually ran away without her purse, according to the authorities.
Police arrested a man after he allegedly slashed another guy across the face with a broken bottle on Scholes Street on Dec. 20, officers said.
The 20-year-old victim said he was arguing with the suspect at Graham Avenue at 2:30 am when the attack occurred.
Police were called and they arrested the man and charged him with assault. Emergency services took the victim to Bellevue Hospital Center in Manhattan.
A trio of masked marauders broke into a Graham Avenue gaming store on Dec. 20 and made off with a bunch of nerdy loot, cops said.
The manager of the store between Debevoise and Cook streets said the three desperados jumped onto the roof at 3:48 am and made their way to the first floor of the store.
They absconded with a PlayStation 4, a PlayStation t3, an Xbox, and 11 pairs of Beats by Dre headphones, according to an NYPD report.
