Bay Ridge is pumping up the volume with a jam-packed weekend of live music!
Local watering holes will be flooded with great acts, but we waded through the rest to bring you the best:
Doo-wop is in no short supply this weekend on the Ridge. If you have a hankering for some crooning with a side of rock, head over to the Greenhouse Cafe (7717 Third Ave between 77th and 78th streets) on Friday night for The Remnants at 10 pm.
And the boy is back in town on Saturday! Solo rocker Jack Whiteman will return to P.C.’s Bar & Grill (7215 Fifth Ave. between 72nd and 73rd streets) after 20 years of off-and-on touring. Whiteman will shred classic guitar riffs and sing a mix of old-school tunes starting at 7 pm.
Then walk a block over to Schinitzel Haus (7319 Fifth Ave. between 73rd and 74th streets) to help Backtrax celebrate guitar and keyboard player Joe Mayer’s birthday with a night of classic rock hits from the ’60s all the way up to the ’90s. The Long Island cover band will play hits from groups such as the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and the Black Crowes. The birthday bash will get going around 9:30 pm.
Or, if your Saturday night crew is a finicky one, check out Full Disclosure at the Three Jolly Pigeons (6802 3rd Ave. between 68th Street and Bay Ridge Avenue). The genre-bending duo channels the soulful doo-wop of the Temptations, the screaming guitar riffs of Guns N’ Roses, and the charisma of pop singer Bruno Mars. It’s something everybody can enjoy, and the music starts at 10 pm.
High-energy, rock cover band Kristen and the Noise will close the Saturday marathon of live music events at The Wicked Monk (9510 Third Ave. between 95th and 96th streets) at 11 pm — and don’t forget to try the beer of the week, Bells Oatsmobile, for $4. Slainte!
