Four men brutally beat a good Samaritan after he offered to pay for their meals at a Ditmas Park fast-food joint — bashing the victim with his own cane and sending him to the hospital with broken bones, according to police.

Joseph Molohon was in the greasy grub joint at Ocean and Church avenues at around 7:30 pm on March 1 when he claims he overheard two men saying they didn’t have enough cash to cover their dinner, so he offered to spot them some, he told the New York Post.

Instead, the broke brutes went ballistic on the 37-year-old, punching him and hitting him with his walking stick, cops said. Two of their buddies then joined in, dragging Molohon out of his seat and kicking him in the head, video of the beating shows.

A fifth man then pilfered some items from Molohon’s pockets while he lay helpless on the ground, police said — but fortunately didn’t find his wallet, he told the Post.

Paramedics took Molohon to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for broken bones and cuts.

Police ask anyone with information about the beating to call (800) 577–8477, submit tips at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com, or text 274637 followed by TIP577. All calls are strictly confidential.

Reasonable discourse

Sherman from Prospect Heights says:
White Lives Don't Matter. Obviously. This is the first I'm hearing anout this biscious hate crime. If four brutal white thugs had attacked a black guy, it would have been international news from March 1. Here it is March 16 and Brooklyn Paper has tge headline. Where's the ACLU? Southern Poverty Law Center? Mayor de Blasio? City Council? Silent. Because White Lives Don't Matter.

sarah from Downtown brooklyn says:
Sherman, that is ridiculous. It is so stupid that I feel sorry for you and for people who think like you. The only thing that you said that makes sense is it's a vicious crime.

Sherman from Prospect Heights says:
The only thing I said that's right? Have you heard of this crime before? Have the ACLU and SPLC called for justice for the victim? Has there been an outcry from the community? A march for justice? A call for just and swift punishment for the thugs? Is anyone calling this a hate crime? Under the norms of hate crimes, four whites attacking an innocent black would be a social cause celebre of a hate crime. Four blacks attacking an innocent and )in this case a beneficent) white man is not a hate crime? If not, please explain why not.

Mike L from Kensington says:
These kids are freakin animals. It should be a hate crime and if they do this to a person who simply offered to kindly pay for their food you can guarantee they'll do much worse to other people who rub them the wrong way and likely have already assaulted, robbed and done other unlawful acts. I don't get how it's now two weeks after the fact and the cops have clear images yet these animals aren't locked up?

These kids can't be blamed for their actions! They hadn't eaten for over two hours and were suffering LOW BLOOD SUGAR! This will be throw out of court.

Wanda from Flatbush says:
How does everyone "know" that they are blacks?!?

Sharita from Fort Greene says:
Hey, Wanda, are you blind or something? The video shows four or five black guys attacking a white guy. People know the attackers are black because they're all black in the video of the assault. Get it?

Wanda from Flatbush says:
Sharita - for your information I am legally blind and cannot see the video! Thanks for rubbing it in my face! Oh, and your sight privillege is showing!

I wonder from Brooklyn says:
I wonder how Wanda reads the comments - lol?

Sad how something so tragic is made into a joke. I don't think Wanda would be joshing if it was her or someone she loved. I guess in her own way, she is blind.

Shocked from Brooklyn says:
Amazing that "I wonder" would blatantly and openly express such anti-blind-people views! I guess now that his favorite Donald Trump is in office he thinks it's open season on the blind!
March 19, 2017, 5 am
Keesha from Bed Stuy says:
I Wonder makes a good point. How does Wanda read if she's blind? If her information on this gang attack came only from print, the reports don't mention race at all. The only way the reader knows the gang is black and the victim is white is from the video. Did someone "talk" the viseo to her? What does Donald Trump have to do with Wanda's claimed blindness? Of course maybe some people think she's just trolling as blind, she's no more blind than any of the other commenters. As far as I know the Brooklyn Paper doesn't come out in Braille. Maybe I'm wrong. But I am right about how to spell "privilege." A sighted friend could maybe tell Wanda to drop an "l."

Jason from who knows where is most likely just as pitiful as the wanted thugs.
