They couldn’t get the Dar-win!
Darwin Ramos had a solid outing on the mound, allowing only three hits and two runs while striking out three in five innings, but the Cyclones bats could plate just one runner, as the Tigers ended our boys winning streak at four.
All of the Tigers’ damage came in the first inning. After Luke Burch walked and Ro Coleman singled on a bunt, Jordan Pearce doubled to left field to score Burch and advance Coleman to third. Reynaldo Rivera then hit a sacrifice fly to score Coleman to make it 2–0.
In the fourth, the Cyclones loaded the bases with no one out when Ricardo Cespedes singled in Quinn Brodey. But Jose Maria struck out, Carlos Sanchez grounded a fielder’s choice, and Leon Byrd grounded out to end the inning.
The Cyclones had another chance to tie it up in the fifth, After Edgardo Fermin walked and Jose Miguel “Funky Cold” Medina singled, Brodey hit into a double play and Waler ‘Rabbi” Rasquin flied out.
In the “Battle for the Basement” the Clones remain firmly seated in last place, two-and-a-half games ahead of the putrid Hudson Valley Renegades.
The Cyclones return home to play the Aberdeen Ironbirds today at 4 pm.
