A Bay Ridgite leapt to his death off the roof of a 80th Street apartment building on Jan. 19.

The 47-year-old man jumped from the top of the four-story building at about 9:40 am and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a police spokesman.

The man lived in the apartment building, which was just off of Third Avenue, and was suffering from depression, police on the scene said.

It is an apparent suicide, but a police investigation is ongoing, a department spokesman said.

Officials will release his name after notifying his family.
